The victorious Under 14s Girls Team after winning the All Britain Championship 2016

The annual All Britain Championship is the pinnacle of youth gaelic football and ran over three days in Greenford, London, from 7th – 10th July, with 2000 youth participants from schools and GAA Clubs all over England, Scotland, and Wales.
St. Colmcilles had 7 teams competing across the u8-u14 age groups. For the first time, the club entered a girls team into the competition thanks to the success of the Gaelic for Girls training program that has been underway at the St. Albans club.
The girls’ squad, who formed in April this year, have shown great grit and determination throughout the training season, and an exceptional ability to quickly adapt to a new sport.
They dominated their group games with blistering displays of skill and pace, topping the table, and then went on to a thoroughly deserved win, beating Tir Chonaill Gaels of London in the final.
This is the first time St Colmcilles have won an All Britain Championship and the club is very proud of this achievement. Congratulations to all the players. Also, to the manager, Neil Gallagher and coaches, Eilís Moran, Laura Fitzpatrick, Ellen Beary and Alan Murray who have been brilliant teaching and training the girls for the past 3 months. A huge thanks to Active St Albans who support the Gaelic for Girls programme at St. Colmcilles.
